There is only one way to do things: properly.

We work to the highest modern standards. At the same time we are influenced by tradition: those timeless qualities that define luxury in a very English, understated way.

Pictures show the looks of our watches, but not the thought that goes into their making. Every watch is assembled by hand in England, and the further up our price range you look, the more you will find that your watch's parts are made, not only in Britain, but by small engineering firms and individual craftsmen. We embrace computer aided design, but we also treasure traditional craftsmanship, so our watches are a marriage of both, and it is a joy to work with suppliers whose expertise has been handed down to them through the generations. This approach is a world away from mass production.

We believe that your watch should gratify your senses: the eyes, the hands and even the nose (our Tanner Bates straps smell wonderful!). Take it for granted that it will tell the time (which is why we give a 5-year warranty).

A bespoke watch from the Harold Pinchbeck Bespoke Collection? It doesn't tell the time more accurately, and at first glance it might not look much different from any other watch. So what makes it special . . .

You're commissioning a unique piece, not buying off the shelf. When you order your watch many of its parts will not even exist, because they will be made especially for you.

Created to your own specification, your watch will be subtly different - even from a similar Pinchbeck - because it will be built and finished by hand. It's a process that defies mass production, and which cannot be rushed. Special possessions like this have a soul, and tell a story, which is why they are a source of such pride and quiet satisfaction.

Choice. Whether you choose your options from a menu, or through a more detailed and personal process, your watch will be a far more individual creation than any high street shop can provide. We will consult with you by email, telephone and face-to-face, discussing your watch's features and advising you on the practicalities.

Provenance. You will be dealing with a member of the Pinchbeck family (their watchmaking roots can be traced back three centuries), who knows the craftsmen and engineers who make the case, dial, hands and strap for your watch. Who else can offer this, at anything like our prices?

Service. We will keep in touch with you not only while your watch is being built, but after you take delivery. After three months we will invite you to return your watch for a complimentary 'settling in' service to make certain that all is as it should be. It will also carry a five year warranty: in fact, if you follow our servicing guidelines the movement will be guaranteed for your lifetime. We are always available to answer any questions you might have about your watch.

And, finally, Englishness.

"You clearly have a fantastic team of people down there and I will now inevitably only ever buy Pinchbeck watches. I’ve already had a number of comments regarding the watch and have referred them to your website. I look forward to dealing with your company in the future."

Best regards, Charles.
