The Race for Doggett’s Coat and Badge has become a much-anticipated fixture in our annual calendar, and we were delighted to be in London for this year’s race on 20th July. Despite it being the world’s oldest continually-held sporting event, having been held every year since 1715, it’s not as well-known as it should be, although its popularity is growing.

A great day at The Lord Mayor's Big Curry Lunch

Earlier this month our team were guests at a special event at London’s prestigious Guildhall. The Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch is held annually in support of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, and as well as successfully raising money, it’s become something of a City tradition. The Lord Mayor was the host, and H.R.H. Prince Harry was Royal guest of honour, so it was quite an occasion

Harold Pinchbeck watches used in the 2015 'Smithwicks' advert.

The 2015 Smithwicks advert is a stylish display that shows us the start date of some very smart, stylish and classic things we most probably all know. The Flat Cap, Vinyl records , and Brogue shoes . . . so we were quite honored when they chose to use Harold Pinchbeck watches to represent classic understated style on the actor's wrists:

Does the watch you are buying still have a genuine history or is it second hand?

When we are buying products these days, it is vital to know the background of the product. This is especially true in the case of luxury watches or timepieces. Many English watches have roots that go back centuries, literally. But is that history still evident in the current product or is it simply a "selling point"?

When you bought your last watch, did the experience meet your expectations?

We have all bought items and then had to call or contact customer service. Did the person on the other end handle your situation or simply push the call elsewhere? Was the problem resolved?

Are you paying your watchmaker for craftsmanship or advertising?

It is a very nice feeling when the day has arrived where the bills are all paid, you've got some money in the bank, your investments are working for you, your family is happy, and it just seems like it's time to splurge a little bit on yourself.

Is a wristwatch a practical tool or a work of art?

For those that care about having both an accurate timepiece and a piece of jewellery that makes a statement, these individuals are regularly pleased when the words "Those are beautiful luxury watches!" are directed their way.
