The new Orpheus: a legend, in a watch

If you’re considering a gift for yourself or for someone you love, the new Orpheus ticks all the boxes!

We think you’ll agree that the Orpheus is an unusually good looking watch – and its beauty is much more than skin-deep. When you’re wearing it, or just holding it, you’re aware that it’s a timepiece of supreme quality. The fine guilloche machined into the dial plays with the light, while the hands describe the legend that inspired their unique design. You’ll be equally delighted with the caseback, as it includes a miniature version of the original painting we commissioned to complement the watch (or if you prefer, an exhibition back reveals the mesmerising workings of the movement).

Why is this exceptional timepiece called the Orpheus? At Harold Pinchbeck we believe that a beautiful watch is a perfect blend of engineering and art. For this watch we were inspired by the ancient Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, so we commissioned an original artwork from Toni Watts. Not only does a separate print of this painting come with each watch; you can have a miniature version encapsulated in the caseback.

Turning to the technical details, the Orpheus is driven by a fine Swiss, manual-wind movement, the ETAS/Unitas 6498, so the seconds hand has a smooth sweep and the action of winding is satisfyingly tactile. The 42mm diameter case is made from 316L stainless steel, polished to mirrorlike perfection. The leather strap, handmade in Devon, is of a traditional quality commensurate with the watch itself.

You’ll find full details of the Orpheus, and the inspiration behind it, here on our website. Alternatively, email info@haroldpinchbeck.co.uk or call us on 01522 560550 for more details.

The Orpheus is a limited edition: no more than 100 will be made, ensuring its exclusivity. Each watch will be laser-etched with its own number, and a certificate will confirm its authenticity.

For a limited time you can order your Orpheus at the special price of £2,495. Pay in full with your order, or reserve your watch with a deposit of £1,500. Deliveries will commence in late September 2022.
